Cheap Juice

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2 August 2026 · Beta

The short version

Cheap Juice has no account and does not require your Octopus Energy credentials. Your selected region, display preferences and a recent copy of public tariff prices are stored on your device. If you enter a postcode, it is sent directly to Octopus Energy to identify your electricity-supply region and is not saved by the app. We do not sell your data.

Read the Cheap Juice Terms of Use for the conditions that apply when you use the app.

Information you provide

You may enter a UK postcode to find the correct grid-supply region. Cheap Juice sends that postcode over HTTPS to Octopus Energy's public grid-supply-point service solely to resolve the region. The postcode is not stored by Cheap Juice. You can avoid entering it by selecting your region manually.

Cheap Juice does not ask for your name, email address, Octopus account number, API key, payment information, smart-meter readings or account-specific consumption data.

Information stored on your device

The app stores a small amount of information locally so it remains useful between visits:

This information is kept in the app's local storage and is removed when you delete the app or clear its data.

Public electricity-price data

Cheap Juice requests public Agile tariff and half-hourly unit-rate information directly from the Octopus Energy API. As with any internet request, Octopus Energy may receive technical information such as your IP address and request time. Its handling of that information is governed by the Octopus Energy Privacy Policy.

Cheap Juice is an independent app and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Octopus Energy.

Beta diagnostics

The beta includes a diagnostics summary that you can choose to share using your device's standard share sheet. It may include app and build versions, device model, operating-system version, region, tariff identifiers, fetch time, rate-slot count, cache status and the most recent error. It does not include your postcode. Nothing is shared unless you take that action and choose a destination yourself.

App updates

Cheap Juice uses Expo's EAS Update service to check for and deliver compatible app updates. Expo may process limited technical information needed to provide the correct update, such as platform, app and runtime versions, update identifiers, an anonymous app-generated identifier and the IP address inherent to the connection. See Expo's Privacy Policy.

Services not currently used

The current beta does not include advertising, analytics, user accounts, in-app purchases, push notifications, location access or account-specific consumption features. If a future release adds a service that changes how information is handled, this policy will be updated before that release.

Children

Cheap Juice is a household energy-price utility and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
